Jim Davis' Cassutt

The following pictures were taken at the 2003 VAA Chapter 3 fly-in at Darlington, SC. Sorry for the poor picture quality, they were taken from a distance.

Jim arrives at the Chapter 3 fly-in. You can see the Super Cub on the left where Phil and Rick spent a cold night in tents.

Here Jim is fielding questions about the Cassutt.

Jim Davis Shares A Piece of History

If you couldn't make it to the February meeting you really missed a good program. Jim Davis brought in a small engine that a friend had recently given him. The engine is a two cylinder two cycle built for the Radioplane Company target drones in the 40's. It's still attached to the original engine mount. The engine has no throttle so when started it's wide open and ready to fly.

If you've seen the movie One Six Right then you might recognize the engine. There is a picture of Marilyn Monroe standing next to one of these when she was discovered while working at the Radioplane Company.

Here's another look at Jim's engine.
